Northern Irish surfer Alastair Mennie and his English surfing partner, Andrew Cotton, star in 'Gethin Jones Danger Hunters: Deadly Waves', a one hour documentary about big wave surfing, Wednesday 29 October on Virgin One at 10pm. Gethin Jones, of Blue Peter and Strictly come dancing fame, receives an insight to the minds and world of two international big wave surfers. Alastair and Andrew take Gethin on a journey to the west coast of ireland in search of monstrous surf. Unlucky with Mother Nature, in Co. Clare, the pair chase a big swell to an infamous shark infested big wave spot named 'dungeons' off capetown South Africa. Despite waiting several days for the forcast huge seas to materialise, Mother Nature decides to once again starve them of the big waves they crave. Al and Cotty check the weather charts and get on the first flight back to Ireland in pursuit of a potential big wave session from an ex- hurricane spinning mid atlantic. The duo go to battle with a fierce storm off Mullaghmore Head, Ireland, and Gethin gets a ring side seat to watch them in action. Most people see a photo of al and cotty riding waves as big as 5 storey buildings and have no idea what it takes to accomplish such an incredible feat. Gethin sees behind the scenes and realises that these guys put their lives in each others hands whole heartledy, with trust and belief beyond most peoples imagination!
